The Eucharist reveals what Christ desires to do within us. Fr Michael Payyapilly VC reflects on how Jesus takes us as we are, blesses us in our weakness, and breaks what must change so He can mould us for His purpose and prepare us for eternal life.

Fr Michael Payyapilly VC reflects on the Holy Eucharist as Christ’s gift for the Christian journey towards eternal life. Moving from COVID-era livestreams and striking experiences during Mass to John 6 and the doctrine of transubstantiation, he explains why the Eucharist is more than habit, obligation or fellowship: in Holy Communion we receive Jesus Himself and are gradually conformed to Him.

Fr Michael Payyapilly VC reflects on what it means to quench the Holy Spirit. When the self becomes the centre, our own voice can become louder than the Spirit, moral boundaries shift around what satisfies us, and what appears to be freedom can become slavery. The Spirit calls us instead to die to self, receive the truth of Christ, allow ourselves to be moulded and become people prepared for eternal life.

Christian discipleship cannot be reduced to prayers, retreats, blessings or a comfortable life. Fr Michael explains why the Holy Spirit is essential to accepting the lordship of Jesus, receiving difficult teaching, carrying the cross without cowardice, living love beyond ego, discerning truth and keeping eternal life as the destination of faith.
